Liberal fascists in the White House? NashuaDan first victim.

Paging Jonah Goldberg! If this developing story did not smack of some twisted Orwellian nightmare then I might chuckle, but instead I am left wondering if this is the start of something bigger. In any event, I am not sure if there has been a precedent of this nature and I am holding the White House responsible. Unless of course if Secret Service calling up individuals because of what they post on the Internet is normal, then perhaps I am just over reacting.

It all began several days ago, when I wrote about the 'disinformation' collection request issued by the White House to keep track of rumors and lies regarding the health care reform discussion. Beyond seeming illegal, the idea that our government issues statements encouraging citizens to spy on each other should be an anathema to any American. My family left Soviet Russia for the very same reason, nobody could be trusted and every 6th person was a possible KGB informant. I understand that liberals reading this will object to analogies of such magnitude, but as F.A. Hayek wrote in his excellent book 'Road to Serfdom', liberals seldom realize when their freedoms vaporize and totalitarianism sets in. Policies and rules that are created stemming out of benevolent desires, as many liberal policies are, can sometimes carry dangerous side-effects. Yet ironically, when conservatives and libertarians object to government run health care and speak out, liberals call us Nazis. So once again, the people who want government run health care and spying on our own fellow citizens, are calling us Nazis? I feel like I am in the twilight zone.

So does NashuaDan.

In this story from the Nashua Telegraph, with a seemingly innocent headline about an Obama comment delves into a very chilling and fear inspiring account. A comment left by an individual calling himself NashuaDan invoked the state's motto of "Live Free or Die" along with some much deserved criticism of our Dear Leader. The comment was left in response to a Wednesday story and contained the following text:

“I hope NH is better than letting this guy off the hook. Let Obama know what ‘Live Free or Die’ means (hint: it isn’t reckless TAXING and SPENDING). Otherwise, Portsmouth will just be another glorified photo-op for the Socialist-in-Chief,”

Seems pretty reasonable. Wrong. A fellow reader found the comments to be objectionable and inspired by the new fascistic White House, called in a complaint! Apparently someone took the complaint very seriously and Dan found himself on the phone with the Secret Service! At this point, some people should be wondering what country are we living in and I can only smugly say - Welcome to Obamanation.

You see, when we disagree with the policies of this ultra liberal administration then we are labeled in the worst imaginable way. These tactics are used to shut us up and paint the opposition as a bunch of raving Nazi lunatics. However all that is required to decipher this nonsense, is a modicum of historical knowledge and the realization that the only Nazis in this country are the ones that clamp down free speech and advocate government run health care. Yet I implore you to go to Google and search for "Bush Hitler" and observe how much information you get back from a seemingly idiotic combination of words, amount of hate speech and edited photography is overwhelming. Yet, apparently that is considered to be "patriotic" and perfectly normal, after all, bashing a Republican is akin to exercising one's duty. However criticizing saint Obama unleashes the hell of Secret Service? I sincerely doubt that the secret service (or should I call them SS for short) have "Follow up internet comments" in their job descriptions - and if they do, then I want my tax money back.

If this madness does not stop and if these liberal fascists succeed in achieving their Utopian 1984 paradise, this country will become unrecognizable.

Update: Although not directly related to this story, John Boozman issued a public statement denouncing the White House snitching efforts and calling for a shutdown of the email address. This is critical as our government is sending the wrong message to our citizens and introducing fear of government - something the founding fathers would have rejected unequivocally.
