American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 passed in the House as it was likely going to. The numbers were slightly revised as it is now the 819 Billion, not 825 Billion stimulus package. 6 billion does not matter when we are dealing such staggering numbers. It's like asking what is infinity + 1? A: Still infinity. Anyway, it was pleasant to see that NO Republican, zero, none supported this pork-riddled garbage . Some Democrats also opposed this, about 11 of those. This is important for several reasons. First of all, GOP demonstrated that they could at least unite behind a fiscally conservative cause. Second of all, this is resistance to boy wonder popularity contest winner President 0 bama. Third of all, Nancy Pelosi had an orgasm as she read the results of the vote - this is not important per se, but since I was watching it on TV and had to witness this perversion I thought I would share it with the rest of you. I knew this will happen, good thing I hung on to Obama's quotes. In light of the 825 billion stimulus package that I dissected earlier today with proof that it is mired with pork (billions worth), here is a quote from Obama from about three weeks ago from this story . This is referring exactly to the bill that he is trying to shove down our throats. The package will set a "new higher standard of accountability, transparency and oversight. We are going to ban all earmarks , the process by which individual members insert projects without review," he said. " We're not having earmarks in the recovery package. Period ." Only if you were to consider billions of dollars going to non-profit groups like ACORN, hundreds of millions to buy new government vehicles, millions for global warming research, millions for digital tv conversion subsidies, billions to upgrade federal buildings, millions for clearing out water pollution and a slew of other items as NON-pork. The big vote in the House is coming on the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 aka the Obama stimulus package aka New Deal 2 aka Rush sucks and Liberals rule . The details of the text, like of many bills is detailed, but can be found here . I just spent quite some time reading through the text of the bill and have outlined the major proposals here. I think it is important that Americans understand what our money is being spent on in the name of recovery. This is not a comprehensive list, as it will take many pages to outline the random pork projects. The bill outlines the objectives and they are as followed, with my comments below: (1) modernize the nation's infrastructure; This will be a giant waste of money. There is nothing that can be done to significantly improve our industry such that it will stimulate economic recovery. Michelle Malkin has a post pointing out all the RINOS (Republican In Name Only) who voted to confirm Tim Geithner for Secretary of Treasury. The list is as follows: Corker (R-TN) Cornyn (R-TX) Crapo (R-ID) - Fitting name. Ensign (R-NV) Graham (R-SC) Gregg (R-NH) Hatch (R-UT) Shelby (R-AL) - This one surprised me. Snowe (R-ME) Voinovich (R-OH) - Worse than McCain. The post also includes an excellent video from Jim Inhofe and he succinctly explains that not only is confirming TG an abomination, but discusses the bailout nation that we have become. What this also suggests unfortunately is that Obama will probably have a small number of traitors that he can rely on to pass his socialist agenda, specifically the upcoming 825 billion bailout bill. A good buddy of mine gave me an interesting read, from what looks like a Pakistani blog. The article discusses several quotes from an Israeli professor, reviled Dutch-Israeli Military Historian Martin van Creveld , that include some very aggressive and fiery rhetoric. It makes him sound like a madman and unfortunately this same post can be found on the whose who of hate sites including notorious hate mongers such as Stormfront .org ( neo -Nazis). The very first quote listed (ironically the last one in the actual interview) is the following: "We possess several hundred atomic warheads and rockets and can launch them at targets in all directions, perhaps even at Rome. The article is then cleverly appended with prophecies that call for the destruction of mankind from the one and only anti-Christ. This is a story that the good folks over at the PatriotRoom are covering. Tthe gist of the story is as such; Iran's ship was stopped (by US/Egyptians) and it turns out that they are secretly smuggling about 60 tons of weaponry to Hamas . We are talking long ranged missiles, anti-tank weaponry, mines, machine guns, the whole lot. I bet they would find some explosive rigged camels if they search the ship thoroughly enough. Iran can send food, medicine, aid and clothing to the Palestinians, instead they choose to send war materiel. Where is the international pressure? Where? Where are the protesters who go and march in the streets bashing Israel at any opportunity? Why does Gaza need even 1 ton of weapons, let alone 60? Humanity is flipped on its head and it is frustrating. Lastly, Obama has to act on this. People are often prone to make snap judgments based on limited information, limited knowledge or worse, skewed and ignorant generalizations.
