Religion and it's role in the political right.

Some people have taken an objection to my rejection of religion within the new conservative movement in my last reaction video. I should have been clearer, much clearer - let me take the opportunity. I hold religion responsible for a lot of evils that have been put forth on this earth. Starting from the Crusades, rampant anti- semitism and the absolute terror that Islam has created. There are examples of religious conflicts that are too many to list, including the inevitable anger that some readers are probably experiencing. To me, religion is a personal matter. Unfortunately for too many people it is a global matter. Those who believe take offense to those that do not! That is a problem and is often a root cause of multiple conflicts. Religion has also become less and less effective in explaining worldly events and therefore the influence of the church has diminished and will continue to diminish. An example I often use in arguing this point is the following; At one point the church

Obama's slightly creepy cult of personality. Newsweek notices!

Evan Thomas of Newsweek finally said what we have been saying all this time. There is a cult of personality about Obama and it is not normal or healthy. I will guarantee that there will be pictures and posters hanging in the house of virtually ever African-American. This man will be worshipped and he can do no wrong. Of course he can't, after all Chris Matthews has taken it upon himself to ensure this presidency will work. Really? (Video Below) Where was Newsweek earlier? Check out the video for yourself (it includes someone else's analysis): And the traitor to his profession, Chris Matthews himself. This is sad.

Rahm Emanuel, Obama's new chief of staff

This is the first major apointee by Obama and something we should be watching. This will give us an indication of what the tone in the White House will be. Who is Rahm Emanuel? He is a former Clinton aide turned investment banker. A Chicago politician with a fiery personality and a strong Israel supporter. The Chief of Staff is a powerful position and will set the mood and tone of the White House. There are plenty of speculation that he is no centrist and I will use two gauges to determine this. First, from the American Conservative Union (link on right): Life score: Emanuel: 13.09 0 is most liberal. For comparison's sake, Obama is a 7 McCain is an 82. (NO idea how he get 82). Second, America for Democratic Action (link on right): Emanuel: 95%. LQ is the liberal quotient. 100% is most liberal. For comparison's sake, Obama: 75% LQ for 2007 McCain got 10%. (Kind of surprising). It would appear that the speculation of his centrist idealogy are grossly overblown. Another big govern
