Someone on facebook (from a conservative group) sent me a link to the Obama Deception movie, a documentary by Alex Jones. This will be coming out on March 15 th and there is a short preview on the website, but no additional information. I watched the preview and frankly, I am a little disturbed. If this is what the conservative/libertarian base is rallying around, then we are stooping lower than Michael Moore, possibly much lower. While I recognize it is dangerous to judge a movie by a preview, the following signs lead me to believe that this not only comes from a Ron Paul supporter, but one of the crazier Ron Paul supporters a distinction probably not worth making anymore. - New World Order mentioned, first sign of a conspiracy nut. - Illuminati and free masonry symbols shown. - Manchurian candidate and shadow control from up and above. Bill coming out of DC have now assumed an eerie pattern, the are largely partisan, passed with the help of liberal Republicans and either screw the American people ( SCHIP , Stimulus Bill) or simply poo-poo all over the US Constitution. Omnibus Appropriations Act of 2009 passed the House today 245-178 with 16 Republicans supporting this bill. This bill outlines roughly 410 Billion for the Federal government to operate and arguably is a necessity. Perhaps this bill would not have even showed up on the radar screen, but after spending about 800 Billion on spending projects that should have gone through appropriations this bill hurts. While Obama declares war on the deficit one has to wonder just how much more they can spend with the following still going to happen: - Auto industry asking for 20-30B - Housing foreclosure prevention plan for 75B - AIG asking for 60B more - Additional Afghanistan troop deployment. I watched the address to congress today and have walked away with some initial impressions, the beauty of reacting to the speech right away and putting it on paper (or blog) is that my mind is not persuaded by TV pundits. First of all, I think Obama should have most definitely talked up the economy and like I mentioned previously to instill confidence into a nation that he has in the past month scared stiff. Unfortunately other than a cliche of "America eventually rebuilding and recovering", words like crisis were mentioned again. The speech was used to outline the major platforms of the administration and that is primarily to revamp health care, education and our reliance on foreign oil. Fondly talking about the stimulus bill that just passed and what impact it will have on our economy was a must, even if it is largely unsubstantiated. Mentioning Recovery.gov a site not even worth mentioning is just another example of deception considering how little value it truly provides....

Tonight if the Presidential address to Congress, a speech typically delivered within the first year of the term. However as you may have guessed, the speech essentially becomes a state of the union address as all of America will invariably be watching. What our President has to accomplish today is quite simple really and that is to instill confidence in the economy, something he has failed to do so far. In fact arguably he has done the opposite citing our current condition as a crisis on the precipice of a catastrophe. Since his election our stock market has sold off sharply shaving about 2,000 points on the DOW alone - most astute investors will tell you that the market sold off equally sharply with the anticipation of Obama's inevitable victory. Although similarities between Obama and FDR are numerous, one distinct difference that jumps out at me is FDR's ability to inspire and provide confidence in the most trying of times, he was called the great communicator for a reason...

Based on a campaign promise by Obama his administration is now utilizing technology to provide bleeding edge transparency to government in ways unseen before. Even before the stimulus bill found support in Congress, one of the very first provisions in the bill spoke about Recovery.gov as a means to provide transparency to the American public. Aim here is to let the people know where exactly our hard earned money is going and even give us a chance to participate, or in this case write about emotional stories of how someone else's money changed our lives. Given that a bill of this size passed through Congress in truly record speed, one would expect the website to be fully functioning and full of lip smacking goodness. Instead, the user is greeted with a bar chart that breaks down the money distribution in several sections. A short week after signing into law the biggest spending bill in the history of the United States, Obama has turned his attention on cutting our deficits . Akin to an alcoholic saying he will no longer drink whiskey, while doubling up on vodka and beer. His first line of business is to cut spending in Afghanistan & Iraq, ironic of course considering he just signed the deployment of 17,000 additional troops to Afghanistan. What exactly does he plan to cut? Going to send the soldiers over there without rifles? Russians did so in battle of Stalingrad, so there is SOME precedent. Withdrawal from Iraq has been promised to take place within 16 months, but rumors are swirling that this timeline might be extended. So how else does Obama plan to "get exploding deficits under control"? First in line, are the Bush tax cuts which contrary to popular belief save everyone money as they reduce tax rates across all brackets, these will expire in 2010 and 2011.
