John Boehner exposes Cap and Trade bill.

An absolute must watch from minority leader John Boehner as he discusses some of the particularly disturbing details of the latest climate bill. Boehner has been rather spotty in terms of sticking up for the little guy, but when he comes through - he does so with a BANG ! His speech delves into the bill's shocking reach of government control. We are going to be mandated and told where to install electrical outlets, how big they should be and which appliances they should accommodate . We will be forced to prove to a government official every time we make a house upgrade that our upgrades increase energy efficiency! In case that is not bad enough, Fannie and Freddie will be awarded with extra moneys such that they can issue mortgages dependent on energy efficiency. The bill also introduces new federal mandates based on "green" efficiencies and by using Freddie/Fannie will enforce such mandates. Further restrictions are being imposed on building material as those deemed wo...

Bill alert: American Clean Energy And Security Act of 2009 a.k.a Cap and Trade

Image
Henry Waxman of California has pushed this bill through and a vote is expected to take place shortly. According to opencongress .org the bill has massive opposition among the public or the educated voters. With 770 Nays and 103 Ayes putting the bill in the same bucket of dislike as the Stimulus package. The bill sounds good on paper as it strives to move America from the dependency on oil, but in reality this is nothing more than a Global Warming rescue package. A package that is being put forth on the Americans in time of significant strife and threatens to implicitly raise taxes on every single family. According to Heritage.org if the bill passes, the end result will be "... will lower temperatures by only hundredths of a degree in 2050 and no more than two-tenths of a degree at the end of the century.” Obviously the Green Fascists will have you believe otherwise and using the term "crisis" or "emergency" will invariably attempt to push this legislatio...

Michael Jackson dies at age 50.

Image
An entirely unpolitical development has occurred today, but a development of great importance and magnitude. Beyond the endless coverage on every major media outlet the impact of Michael's death due to cardiac arrest will probably penetrate society on every level. Why is his death so important and seemingly overshadows the equally tragic death of Farrah Fawcett . Perhaps it is the very same reason I am writing about the death right now. Although difficult to judge one might be correct in asserting that MJ's name is the most prominent and well known name in the world. In fact the reach and influence of MJ's work exceeds that of any other entertainer in the history of humanity! Worse yet, unlike Farrah's well known battle with cancer MJ's death seems to have hit humanity like a sledge hammer. His death took an estimated one hour to report starting from the headline "Michael rushed to Hospital" and ending "Michael pronounced dead". Humans do not...

Obama's popularity starting to wane?

Image
We live in interesting times and the job of POTUS is probably the most difficult and stressful task in the world. This is of course why so much emphasis is placed on elections, campaigns and public involvement. Obama rode in a wave of irrational popularity bolstered by the nation's vehement dislike of George W. Bush, a souring economy and the attraction to a youthful black male. A great many of us in the political "right" and "center" were put off by Obama as we began to learn about his experience, stances and dubious past. It appears, however, that some sense is starting to creep back into the American public although at a stubbornly slow rate. As of now, the most trusted pollster - Scott Rasmussen suggests that for the first time since Obama's election the number of people who greatly disapprove of Obama's performance outweigh those that greatly approve. Total approval is still outweighing the total disapproval by 9%. I trust Rasmussen more than a...

Obama administration and the growing Czar problem

Image
How many czars does it take to destroy a representative government? Sounds like the start of a corny political joke, but this is a question every American should now be asking. Obama is now officially dancing with the czars, after appointing more czars into his administration than the entire history of the Russian empire. As of now the total list is as follows (although not all have been appointed by Obama). This list is unverified: Drug Czar,U.S. Border Czar,Urban Czar,Regulatory Czar,Stimulus Accountability Czar ,Iran Czar,Middle East Czar,Afghanistan-Pakistan Czar ,Cyber Security Czar,Bank Bailout/TARP Czar,Energy Czar,Technology Czar,Copyright Czar,Climate Czar,Health Care Czar,WMD Czar,Education Czar,Economic Czar,Housing Czar,Mortgage Czar,Pay Czar,Guantanamo closure Czar,Terrorism Czar, more? What makes czars dangerous? Let's ask a senior Democrat and pork king himself, Senator Byrd, who wrote a letter to Mr. Obama regarding the very same question we are discussing right now...

Holocaust museum shooter, right-wing extremist or liberal nutcase?

Image
In case you have been living under a rock, recently a tragedy unfolded in Washington DC at the sight of a massive Holocaust museum where a deranged gunman fatally shot a guard . The story is deeply saddening considering that the shooter was an 88 year old nut job and reminds us that evil comes in many forms and shapes. What is equally interesting about the development is the portrayal of the shooter in the media and from the left in general. I have collected a few samples from the web that depict the shooter; James von Brunn as a right-wing extremist. Why does this matter to me? I have been called many things; conservative, right-winger, nut job , republican, hardliner, etc. I assure you that I have very little to do with the musings of Mr. Brunn as I will demonstrate later. Washington Independent -‘Right-Wing’ Rhetoric on Hold After Museum Shooting - "The details of von Brunn ’s life and views spilled out across the airwaves and across the Internet, revealing ties to neo -...

Supreme court and White House refuses to lift ban on gays in military.

Image
Today America's highest court stood by a decision to maintain the ban on gays serving in the military, a decision that was supported and encouraged by the White House. There are several important issues at play and while I contend that this is an extremely sensitive topic, it is no less a topic that should be openly discussed with out the fear of infringing upon political correctness. First of all, I fail to see how a ban on gay military service is at all constitutional. Whatever happened to individual liberty and freedom? I for one do not approve of the homosexual lifestyle, but this is my own personal conviction and not anything I would ever use to enact policy from. Homosexuality is something an individual is born with, discriminating against sexual orientation is akin to discriminating against skin color. Even if we were to assume that homosexuality is a choice, then under whose authority and under what right can we discriminate against that choice? I choose to be straight, wha...
