Epic fail. Obama replaces economic adviser with his good buddy.

Austan Goolsbee's selection is not a failure just because it is blatant nepotism, but because Austan is replacing Romer after she butchered the deficit with the monstrosity known the "stimulus package" despite the fact that Austan has been Obama's economic adviser since day one!  It does not require a giant mental leap to conclude that Austan's economic advising must have been taking place during the creation, writing and implementation of the stimulus.  So why would our president, whose job is it to staff positions properly, fill the role with exactly the same people that have failed us.  Why does he insist on pushing the Keynesian spend-to-stimulate approach despite it's demonstrable failure?

Oh!  I know why, here it is...

Goolsbee, 41, will succeed Christina Romer. A senior administration official said Goolsbee is a team player who can navigate the White House and is a skilled television interviewee who can help the president promote his economic message.

“He’s young and energetic and good on TV,” the official said.

That actually makes sense.  When you are trying to convince the American public to spend more of their children's future money on failed policy, better get someone charming.  After all, this is how our president became president, no?  Good on TV?

We now have a career academic/public servant advising our President on how to improve our economy.  Yours truly does not sport U of Chicago credentials and my public service career is non-existent, but here is some advice.  Help our economy by shrinking spending.  In fact, repeal your own legislation and your popularity will rise - that is a promise.

By the way, Goolsbee has some Improv chops too (Kevin Nealon knock-off), follow the link to watch him poke fun at Obama's Kenya "problem" and make references to Marx and Trotsky.  I am actually a bit torn on this guy, he openly admitted that his economic agenda comes from Socialists - on one hand that is funny, on the other hand we now have admitted socialists in the White House.  Funny haha or scary haha?
