Video: An example of a private-public service model

Reason.TV shows a live and working example of a relatively new city in Georgia that has adopted an interesting approach in delivering services to their citizens.   This approach radically attacks the notion that certain services and functions must always belong in public hands.   Well not only is that not true, but Sandy Springs has also done two amazing things that most other American cities have not.

First, they have provided better investments and more services while not raising taxes/costs.
Secondly, they have no long term pension liabilities!   This of course is huge, because this is precisely what is threatening to dismantle so many municipalities, the promise to pay so many public workers.

Too bad existing cities will never get past the union stranglehold to actually adopt a similar model, perhaps we can all move to Sandy Springs instead?
