GOP Stands united on 787 billion stimulus

UPDATE:  Senate passes the bill 60-38 and it will be signed next week.  After all the work and the passionate speeches, websites, facebook groups, awareness and general broo-haha this boondoggle finally clears the finish line.  Not much more we can do here, but prepare for the next spending project that is expected to come down the pipe shortly, the Omnibus.

Yet another impressive showing, albeit not as powerful as last time by the House republicans standing united against the "revised" stimulus. I say "revised" in jest, as there is not much difference in this bill from a fundamental standpoint. A bill that is entirely tailored to the spending interests of liberal groups, laughable tax incentives and senseless research projects cannot be supported by fiscally minded individuals. Even if the number is down from 819 to 787 B-b-b-billion.

There is just one difference this time, fewer Democrats stood with the GOP this time. Where as last time 11 brave souls broke rank, only 7 defected this time.

Senate is spending taxpayer money in a useless fashion and continuing to debate this bill for no apparent reason. I will post updates here.

What is wrong with this country?

I was browsing the latest IBD poll and it finally struck me. I had this idea brewing for the past few weeks now and this particular poll hit a nerve. What jumped out was the age group and who they are likely voting for. Obama / McCain 18-24: 74% 21% The rest of the age groups are more or less even with ages 65+ leaning more for McCain. Those folks should probably avoid leaning - hazardous to their health. Now, if you are a member of this group and are part of the 74% you are probably feeling good about yourself. If you are in the 21% then you are probably used to feeling desperate and angry that your peers ostracize you as if you were the next coming of the bubonic plague. But this number is very telling. Showing to us that a large group of freshly minted liberals, on average still in college, is in a very good position to influence these elections.
