Baucus bill passes committee courtesy of Snowe

In all too predictable move, Olympia Snowe allows for passage a bill threatening to cripple 1/6th of the nation's economy with the following words.
“Is this bill all that I would want?” Ms. Snowe asked. “Far from it. Is it all that it can be? No. But when history calls, history calls. And I happen to think that the consequences of inaction dictate the urgency of Congress to take every opportunity to demonstrate its capacity to solve the monumental issues of our time.”
Really?  You are willing to sign off on the most expensive bill in history because history calls while admitting this is a far from perfect bill?  No Senator, only Obama calls and you heed like the sellout dog that you are.  Congratulations, you are set for life in whatever circle of Democrats you wish to grovel to while we are saddled with crushing debt and rising insurance premiums.

Reid has a powerful weapon now and a weapon he will most likely use.  After blending the bill with a version from HELP committee he will get Democrats to vote for cloture and seize debate while telling some key Democrats to vote 'no' during budget reconciliation, this will then move on to a combined with a version from the House and we will get some version of health reform that no one has read, studied, seen or examined signed by a president who will not read, study, see or examine it.  Crisis averted.

Now is the time to become vocal, now is the time to make people aware that health reform can only take place with government reduction not government expansion.  If you are concerned about federal intrusion creeping further into your life and commanding control over the most precious commodity you have, your health, then fight as if your life depended on it.

What is wrong with this country?

I was browsing the latest IBD poll and it finally struck me. I had this idea brewing for the past few weeks now and this particular poll hit a nerve. What jumped out was the age group and who they are likely voting for. Obama / McCain 18-24: 74% 21% The rest of the age groups are more or less even with ages 65+ leaning more for McCain. Those folks should probably avoid leaning - hazardous to their health. Now, if you are a member of this group and are part of the 74% you are probably feeling good about yourself. If you are in the 21% then you are probably used to feeling desperate and angry that your peers ostracize you as if you were the next coming of the bubonic plague. But this number is very telling. Showing to us that a large group of freshly minted liberals, on average still in college, is in a very good position to influence these elections. 401k Takeover Proposal. IRAs in danger?

Just read a piece that made my blood boil. The story is from Carolina Journal, but I will paste the first paragraph below. Even if you currently do not have a 401k, this is the most dangerous proposal I have ever heard. The only similar example I can think of, would be the gold seizure under FDR. If this proposal becomes legitimate, you MUST write to your local representative, congressman, senator, etc. This will be absolutely crippling to our economy as investors will stage a mass exodus out of the market. If you want a demonstration of this in action, look at Argentina. They just did something very similar.
