Senate passes motion to proceed on health care reform bill, let the debates begin!
Our magnificent politicians pulled another weekend shocker, this time in the Senate by passing a 'motion to proceed' 60-39 with all Democrats voting yes (including Lieberman & Sanders) and all Republicans voting no with Voinovich not voting. This allows the debate to be officially opened and is a massive blow for the opposition.
On the heels of a landmark Fed audit amendment bill and global warming email hack discovery, this is a bitter pill to swallow.
Currently, majority leader Harry Reid does not appear to have enough votes to end the debate and according to rather harsh words from Blanche Lincoln the public option appears to be the major hindrance.
The problem of course for those Democrats and people like Lieberman is that by passing the motion to proceed with debate we have entered a very dangerous and precarious situation. We have seen just last week that politics is a very dirty business and the leaders of both House and Senate are prepared to pull out every procedural trick to get their legislation passed. This of course should be disturbing to anyone considering how much sorcery is required to pass something poised to endanger 15% of our economy and tamper with people's health.
In fact there is very little to debate despite what the Senators claim, because a front-loaded bill totaling 850+ billion dollars is poised to balloon into trillions of dollars with 15-20 years. Coincidentally within that time frame both Social Security and Medicare will have exploded in bankruptcy leaving millions of Americans in a dire situation. Therefore voting for the option to debate could very well be akin to voting for the actual bill itself.
Liberals are now one step closer to seizing more of our wealth in order to pay for their previous blunders under the hoax of a 'crisis'. Everyone who supports health care reform as offered by Pelosi and Reid are either incredibly stupid and naive or have Marxist blood coursing through their veins. A silver lining here is that Congress is pushing for legislation that remains to be opposed by a majority of voters.
