Detroit video exposes total destruction.
Steve Crowder's new video shows a chilling tale of a once prosperous and mighty city brought down to it's knees. What is particularly interesting about Detroit is the general misconception about it's demise and if you were to ask the average American or perhaps even yourself - why is Detroit hurting - the typical answer would probably be: struggling car companies. While an explanation to something as complicated as to what can destroy an entire city is never one sided and often requires careful examination, there is a great deal of information to suggest that the struggling car companies may just be a small component of Detroit's fiscal and social ruin.
Crowder does a great job of tackling some of the key aspects of Detroit's failure and he pulls no punches on what he believes is the only and obvious culprit, government. Not just any government, but liberal dominated government and the myriad of problems associated with leftist agendas including powerful unions, massive subsidies and mind numbing regulation. Detroit does indeed showcase a very impressive line of Democrat leadership to this day, but unfortunately it is difficult with any kind of certainty to establish causation here - although it is very tempting. After all, bastions of liberal thought and policy exist in San Francisco, Manhattan and Boston and as of this moment these cities are still the envy of America (for better or worse). Further complicating the problem is that a party label fails to convey meaningful information and therefore any area dominated by Democrats can have wildly different policies from place to place.
Lastly, Detroit was and is still a primarily one industry city and if this industry fails to grow then the dependent city will ultimately struggle. Although a very strong case can be made that prohibitive union requirements have compromised the big three automakers, shown well in the video. This of course is no excuse for Detroit's condition and cities like Pittsburgh have survived despite losing it's steel industry. Ultimately Detroit deserves a close and honest investigation and if it indeed serves as an example of flawed liberal policy, corruption and union exploitation (both teachers and auto) then all Americans should pay very careful attention or we will be experiencing many more Detroits in the coming future.
