ObamaCare no longer contains public coverage, why the panic?

ObamaCare has taken an interesting twist with Lieberman's vote coming in as the Medicare expansion comes out.  Although expanding Medicare's broken infrastructure to people aged 55 and up would have been catastrophic the remaining legislation raises a lot of questions.  With no more public option and no more Medicare expansion, what will this bill accomplish?  The cost appears to be the same and the plans to cut Medicare advantage to the tune of hundreds of billions and taxation upon the medical industry for hundreds of billions more.  So what is the deal?

In a previous article discussing the estimated cost of the ObamaCare at 2.5 trillion an idea was put forth that the existing financial debacle is the primary mover behind ObamaCare.  With virtually every progressive idea stripped out of the current version of the Senate bill, what else is left other than a mechanism to raise revenue?  Those that will get coverage, will only get coverage due to Medicaid expansion, but this Medicaid expansion comes at significant costs as the Federal government only promises subsidies for a few years.  Take a look at your state budget and realize how dangerous it is to expand Medicaid these days. In fact considering that the bill has been proven to raise costs for over 60 million Americans and now no longer insures the vast majority of the uninsured, there is nothing left.

At least there is nothing left for YOU, but plenty for our government desperately seeking out to collect more and more revenue to stem the bleeding of the deficits.  Deficits mind you that have been created by our government in the name of stemming an economic debacle caused by a massive liquidity bubble.   Yet Americans are still disillusioned into believing that health reform must pass in order to stem a crisis!  What crisis folks?  The millions of uninsured or the out of control costs?   Well, how can you support a bill that not only fails to address the issues, but exacerbates the latter.

Once again, unless you are a progressive that wants to desperately centralize all control in the federal government - you should no longer be supporting this bill.  Whether you are a free marketeer or a bleeding heart liberal, there is nothing in this legislation other than more taxes and more government intrusion.
