Judd Gregg withdraws as Commerce Secretary.
Judd Gregg's announcement today that was not accepting the Commerce position was perplexing and strange. Citing a fluff reason - philosophical differences - weeks after the pick makes no sense. In order to understand how this affects people, it's best to put ourselves in their shoes.
This is the official statement
"Senator Gregg reached out to the President and offered his name for Secretary of Commerce. He was very clear throughout the interviewing process that despite past disagreements about policies, he would support, embrace, and move forward with the President’s agenda. Once it became clear after his nomination that Senator Gregg was not going to be supporting some of President Obama’s key economic priorities, it became necessary for Senator Gregg and the Obama administration to part ways. We regret that he has had a change of heart".
Conservatives: This is bad news for us as we were happy to see this RINO go and self-destruct as one of the three Republicans in the cabinet. Now our NH brothers are annoyed that he is back representing and it's not like our hands were not full with the Collins/Specter/Snowe Trifecta.
Moderates: This is disappointing for us and more importantly confusing. After all, Gregg cited philosophical conflicts as the primary reason for not joining the administration, but what did he discover recently that was so shocking to him? This would have been a great opportunity to build bridges and reach across the aisle, but at least he can keep those crazy wing bats on the right in check.
Liberals: We could care less one way or another, not like the Commerce department does anything useful anyway. Much more importantly was Gregg's announcement that he does not plan to run again in 2010 and we will finally be able to put another Liberal senator in the Live Free or Die State!
Obama: Oh sh*t, not again.
If anyone can explain to me what Gregg discovered recently about our new socialist president I would love to know OR if he did not discover anything new, what massive rock was the Senator from NH living under? I welcome all responses.
